American Idol - Days 1 and 2

Mostly day 2. I didn't pay too much attention to day 1 but my favorite was Sarah who sang Over the Rainbow. I took notes on day 2. Seattle!

Jennifer, the girl called herself "The Hotness"... needs a mirror. Amy, a cold doesn't cause tone that bad. There were at least two from Bothell. They both sucked bad. Red said he sings "kar-o-key". Maybe he'd be a better singer if he sung karaoke instead. I would NEVER enter a singing competition but even so, I sing better than 90% of the crap I heard on the shows. Really, who tells these people they can sing and should go on the show? I like the guy from Utah, the geek. His co-workers urged him to go on the show. I bet they did. Nice one.

Thomas, the guy who quit his gas station job and sang "Arms of a Woman" sounded good. Blake the "beat box" had some promise but he threw in the beat box-ish stuff so who knows. Shyamali and her brother, both good. I actually liked her better but she needs some more power in her voice and some "style" or something pizazzy. He was too boring though he had a richer voice. Rudy sang open arms. Pretty good stuff. I wish he had sung the right words. He sounded almost as good as I do singing that one. Okay, I stop before the high notes. The 16 year old, Jordan, was the best of the bunch. Really nice and powerful voice.

That Taylor Hicks self-professed look-alike? The hairdresser? Uh, no. I also saw look-alikes for Tom Cruise, Cindy Lauper, a troll, and Tammy Faye Bakker. Nice group.

Your thoughts, Moon Frog?

I am still having issues....Ok I DID NOT take notes the last 2 nights of Idol. I have to agree with you on who was the best from both nights. The girl who sung 'over the rainbow' and then the 16 year old with the red shirt last night. Ac ouple of the guys were good. Still no one has stood out to me. I have to say though that I am tired of seeing all the bad singers. The judges were really brutal.I felt really bad for the guy Simon called a monkey. Personal attacks about someone's physical being should be off limits. That was just plain rude. Randy just laughed and laughed. Paula was too but has her back to the guy. Monday night they followed a girl to where she works and did a special segment on her "giving her hope" She opened her mouth and was horrible. Why did they give the girl hope. She was devistated. Now I realize that some of these people are just there to be really bad so they can get on TV, but some of them truely believe they are good. What about the bra-less gal with white hair...and her mom? I think she really thought she could sing. She did make me laugh...or was it choke? As for the guy who's coworkers encouraged him...I felt bad for him too. Why did they let him go on for so so long. I was ready to turn it off. But all in all it is entertainement and 'we' watch. I know I would never put myself in that situation ,(even though I can sing...right?)

They really are showing too many really bad singers. It seems they are doing it just so they can feature Simon's "I'm not being rude" rude comments. Yeah, comments about anything "personal" are way out of line. Stick to singing voice, especially in round one. Weed out the the ones without the stage presence or the "it" factor in later rounds. Stop making this all about Simon, please.
